just use some GUNK and some elbow grease

steam cleaners are usually pants, and can melt wires etc.

As what Ginge says, i had to do the engine bay on Sat! Fookin useless.

In the end i used brush on degreaser & a watering can! (poxy hosepipe ban!) it was spot on.

get engine nice and warm .. good quality degreasing agent .. spray onto engine etc .. leave and wash off .. stubbon stuff use a stiff brush ...

power washers and steam cleaners tend to have adverse effects on cossie engines
