Looking for a good combination of products
Hi there,
I own a 98 State Blue Escort Estate. In the beginning I used the usual cleaning stuff from Turtle etc for my car.
now I'm using a mix of Mequiars and Autoglym.
Getting the best look with the Mequiars NXT Tech wax and shampoo and the Clay & Quickdetailer. But somehow after reading some posts I getting the idea cleaning the car can be done better with better results in the end.
I would appreciate any advice
grtz

Hi Bryan,
Theres nothing wrong with the products you have, alot of people swear by the NXT wax and it is a good all round product as it does a very small amount of cleaning, filling, but mainly then giving the actual protection to the paint.
You could split the cleaning/filling steps and the waxing steps. This may make using products easier as you can go for things like Clearkote Vanilla Moose wax or Red Moose Glaze, and then wax with something like Poorboy's Natty's Blue Wax which are very easy to use but, obviously spreads the work out over two different products rather than using just one, although chances are, you'll get better results doing it in steps like this.......
The cleanser/glaze isn't a necessary step everytime you want to wax so you can still do a quick whip round the car if you wanted rather than having to do both steps everytime you want to give the car some TLC
Cheers.
Alex.

By using a mix of manufacturers, you're doing what i believe in - that the best overall finish for your car can be achieved with a range of products, best suited to your paint finish and colour; not necessarily all made by the same company.
The Meg's Clay is a decent product, quite mild, but it achieves decent results, so you may be wise to stick with this, especially if you're used to using it.
Tech wax is a good 'all in one' type product if you're in a rush, as like Alex said, it contains a bit of everything. However, it's durability is poor, and you'll get a better finish by using dedicated individual products.
State Blue is a great colour, and looks brilliant when it's been fully detailed. It has quite a lot of flake as well, so it gives you the opportunity to achieve different finishes by using different products if you wish. For a clean, bright finish, which emphasises flake, i'd recommend:
Clay with your existing products
Polish with ClearKote Vanilla Moose Glaze
Glaze with ClearKote Red Moose Machine Glaze
Seal with Poorboy's EX-P
Wax with Natty's Blue.
For a deeper, wet look finish, i'd use:
Clay with your existing products
Polish with Poorboy's Polish with Carnauba Blue
Glaze with CK Red Moose Machine Glaze
Seal with Poorboy's EX
Wax with Natty's Blue.
I recently detailed a State Blue Escort with the above, and it looked fantastic when completed.
