2L Throttlebody on 1.8 with EFI manifold
I fitted a 2L throttlebody off a 98' Mondeo this weekend. I went and got it from breakers.
I ground off the throttlestop and moved all ancillaries out of the way - so the throttle can open fully. I got my dad to press the pedal down fully while I check the butterfly valve which opens fully.
It's got a lot smoother, as my old body was starting to wear down inside and was causing some idle issues.
For some reason the car feels less gutsy with the 2L body than the 1.8 one? K&N doesn't sound like it's sucking as much air in either. The internal diameter at the point of the butterfly valve is larger on the 2L so should allow for more airflow (surely?).
Any ideas? I'm thinking of thinning the spindle in the middle, and cutting the bolts down - for more airflow, or is that just pedantic?
Also what is the best way to clean a throttlebody? New one is caked in grime but i'm scared to touch it as I think I took the coating off the chamber on the last one.

You're assuming that the old throttle body was the main restriction in your engine. If it wasn't (which it's not) then putting a larger throttle body on will technically alter the velocity characteristics of the air flow (response) which could make it feel a bit soggy..
