I'll have to explain first....

My girlfriend bought this wee buggie last year. It was her first car and she loved 'him'. She even named him, Boris..... Which is weird. Anyway. He gave us completely trouble free motoring, except when the h/g went, but that cost me £12 to fix. Plus 1 set of plugs, he's cost £23 in a year! not bad for 400 quid!

Anyways, she's off and bought a new Punto now she's a banker (ooooohhh, fancy!) So.... She couldn't quite bear to see 'Boris' go to the scrappy's as his MOT is up soon, and he'd need a fair bit of money spent to get him through (christ, I'm even calling it 'him' )

Well, it's more of a charity case than a project, but what the hell. The little car deserves it for being so good for so little. So, a bit of RS Turbo here, a bit of Si there, and a shitload of paint and we'll be laughing!

It's going to be a long winter

First, I had the bright idea of painting the garage floor



This must have been a blonde moment.................. :blonde: The paint is ship deck paint, and needs hardener... Which I didn't add and the bloody paint is still wet.... So, we soldiered on anyways.......

As you can see.... 'He's' a really very crap 1.1 quartz............... Right.

Get the tools out, start ripping all the useless shit out.






And ahhh yes, the lovely ford owners best friend.

But luckily the only rust was on the front crossmember. All easily replaceable. The floor and rest of the shell was in A1 condition!





Hopefully tomrrow I'll get the car onto the nice dry paint and start stripping properly.

Poor Jen (the wife) is in tears, she's dament it'll end up i the scrappy's. How little she knows......

 

Another day, more work... everything's coming off. Only found a few bits of rust here and there, nothing I can't deal with.

I might go for a 2.0 zetec, depends on what would be best for the track, the 2.0 might be more responsive. Maybe a 2.0 on throttle bodies? All depends on what I can get my hands on.

 

should be good when its done. i can see the 1.6rst being the easyst root if you get a donner as for colour mat black black rims with a chrome /silver edge will do a photoshop for you in some colours

I work at sea, so I'm away this weekend for a month of hard work but expect a HUGE update then! It's almost ready for the paint, just need to break out the MIG for the new wings and the 2 rusty spots by the doors.

mint! question the interior wat ya going for striped out track look if so.. put a mk4/5 dash back in obvs in black or even flocked would look mint with some nice buckets and a cage just a thorght!

 

Good idea. The dash, whichever one it is, will be flocked anyway. The seats going in are Sparco Rev side mounts. The cage I'm putting in is bonkers, and I'll need to cut up the dash to get it in...

I have a trick mod for the rear beam which I'll post up soon, should help the handling!!

My poor head is bursting with mad ideas for this track weapon. Arrrggghhh!

Depends on your Gun m8. Each Gun is specific, with type of paint. What gun do you use??

I once sprayed a Corsa bayside blue using a primer gun.........

I spent 2 days rubbing it down to start again................

Good bit of kit, gravity feed, decent all round nozzle and all for 140quid.

This one I only use for finishing. I have a crappy 20 quid draper one from halfords I use for primer. You can rub down the primer easy though.
