Right all I’ve just bought another xr2. Driving it home I noticed that the temp was reading just under the red. I have fitted a new temp sender switch and the switch that turns the fan on and it’s made no difference to it and the fan doesn’t kick in till it’s at the top so I have bypassed the fan sender switch so that the fan comes on as soon as the car is started. But I was sitting in some traffic last night and my temp went right to the top over the red and so did my fuel gage. I checked to see if the car was over heating and it wasn’t. so I drove it home after doing about a ¼ of a mile everything went back to normal the temp went down to half way and the fuel read half a tank.
Any1 got any ideas what the problem could be??????

 

dogy connection maybe or dogy guages.

did the previouse owner(s) do any rewiring or repair work?
