Default cosworth brakes on mk6 escort

how much of a task is it to swap the front brakes on my escort 1.8 si to big cosworth ones?

i bought the discs, calipers and new pads off a mate - they are off an escort cosworth, they are big too!

I'm looking to fit the brakes this weekend I just need 1 brake pad retaining clip and that's the works!

How much of a job is it to fit the brakes? do I need any adaptors or anything or will they go straight on?

Cheers in advance!

they should bolt straight on if they are 4x4 cosworth brakes

you MIGHT need to space the callipers out a little bit but thats
no big deal its only 2 washers If i remember right.,

great stuff

also, i'm missing one pad retaining clip, is this the sort of thing that would have to be specially ordered or the sort of thing my local ford dealer would stock?

ummmmm lol
you might be lucky, but if not try halfords or something,
think them brakes were used on the earlier V6 mondeos too
so a brake fitting kit from one of them should have one in.

i went to fit the brakes today and discovered that the wheel bolts are going to be to short to fit the wheels onto

They come out about 15mm from the discs (when fully pushed onto hub)

What do I need to do? is it as simple as fitting longer bolts into the hubs or do I need different hubs?

Hi guys, i've given it a rest for a bit as my engine needs replacing. The car is off the road @ the moment so I got a chance to have a better look at the breaks.

I'm going to try and explain what the problem is - and possibly someone will know what it is.

The caliper mounts seem to be thicker than the original si ones, when you press the disc back as far as you can, it mounts at a slight angle and doesn't sit fully into the hub as the caliper isn't letting it go back further.

If you test fit the disc without the caliper, it sits fine however you dont have enough thread on the wheel studs to securly fit the wheel.

You can also fit the caliper without the disc and it is the right mounts.

I had an idea - but it may be stupid, longer wheel studs, wheel spacers (on the inside of disc) to pull the disc out from the hub so it doesn't lock against the caliper?
