Default Fantastic Llandow Show/Track Day today with pics.....

Got to say that the Llandow RSOC Show/track day today in South Wales was well worth the journey! It was a well organised show, with fantastic track action. Good to see Essex Group there (long journey for them)......and met quite a few PassionForders

The track action was top rate, especially when most the the South Wales lot went on track at the same time - all total nutters.....Spiky, Mat SAB and a few others....but mainly this chap:

He says: Today, I will mostly be driving my mint 3DR very sideways: Stretch!

Then again, Simon (D7AKE) from Bristol Group was on track in his rapid Nova..........tyres after only 12 laps

Another PassionForder who's car was very fast on track........NUTS RuS proper track weapon:

Simon (SECS) won the "Track Car Of The Day" award:

Waiting to get out on track:
Simon (SECS), Doug (Martini) and Simon (SIB)

Doug (Martini) was flying on track in his new Saph:

to be honest, i was dissapointed. there was a very small turnout. i was expecting more cars- there seemed to be last year. i doubt the traders made back the money they'd paid out on the pitches either.

the trackday side of it was good, but i wasn't really impressed with the car show part.

was enough money made to cover the rental of the track?

What a bloody good day all at the South Wales RSOC put on today Must say a big thanks for all your hard work. I really do hope this show goes from strength to strength

Met loads of people as usual - always a bonus Stretch's 3 door was as stunning on track as it is in his garage Well done to SECS on the award and to Doug (martini) who entrusted me to take out his 4x4 for a play - but I couldn't drive it as well as him I will stick to my little 1600 metro engine which caught and passed 1 cossie, 2 RST's and an evo 3 in 5 laps

Oh and I must say thanks to Llandow for having the forsight for putting the "escape lane" around the bus stop I had to use it only once

Adam - I was trying out a new oil in the gearbox today and I think it blew the seal out from the input shaft Should teach me to stick to what works in future

TOP DAY thanks for the pics Doug and the comments Rhys

Roll on next year

Top trackday, static show was a bit small, as it was only the first year, plus with all the off/on stuff....I enjoyed it though, great day in the sun, big up Simon @ SECS for the ride, and good to see all the usual faces again

Was a TOP Day.Glad everyone enjoyed themselves.Bit burnt today.

Track was how can i say.Very hard on tyres. Had fun though only spun it the once.(Hope no one got that on film) And tried the run off at the bus stop but didnt do as well as tony as i thought the grass looked better so went mowing that for them.

Jon = No problem with giving Kev a ride.He did seem to enjoy it.

Last year mate? this was the first year for us to hold the show Its hard getting a lot of people there for the first show as its a long way to travel for most people etc. But know hopefully word will get around to how good it was and next year will be much bigger

Thanks though to the people who did come this year

Again thanks to all that played a part in the day both organising, working and attending. The size of the show is determined by the number of members wanting to attend the track or static show and i'm very confident that people will feel they missed out.......and they did!!! excellent atmosphere a nice bustle of people around all day and not just aload of cars in a field A show that will grow and grow. Great to see everyone buzzing when they came off the track

As for the comments on the traders, I personally spoke to them at the end of the day and they all went away very very happy after making alot more than expected and alot more than they did at another close by rs show that is 3 times the size of this day One trader even had to send for more stock

For a club to jump in the deep end and organise a new event on the calandar and also make it a track day, not to mention all involved had no experience of organising an event, the day couldn't have gone better. There are many more plans to improve the day but Rome wasnt built in a day

lets see more pics didnt have time to take any myself

Escy - you are incorrect this year was the 1st year South Wales RSOC have held an event at Llandow. Sw-cc had a 0-60 sprint last year which the South Wales RSOC supported with a good number of cars on a club stand. Also if you were not impressed with the car show side of it - thats unlucky but out of our control, the car show area was organised and set out very well, maybe you mean there wasn't as many show cars there as you expected. The cars that were there were all excellent examples did you have a car on display? As for did we make enough money to pay for the track...let me worry about that

See you all there next year

Must congratulate the Staff at Llandow too JB.

Normally my style of kerb hoping, late braking and sideways style of driving gets blacked flagged on track days. I don't think they used it once all day.

VERY VERY tolerant and professional in attitude and organisation

Tell them when you see them next please

Cheers

Tony

The owners of Llandow did comment to me on how hard everyone was trying on the track but still keeping the cars under control, they were very happy

My tyres and brakes say i couldnt have gone any faster,it was nice to have that opportunity. The general driving standard was very good i thought with very few mistakes and only a couple of cars not really pushing it.Llandow is about 15 minutes from my house but i havnt been on the track for about 14 years and now i remember what ive been missing, ive promised the mrs ill sell the Sierra now ive got the saab which is now made more difficult by the enjoyment it gave me still there is always the Rocco sitting around the side of my house.

I was the big lad parked up next to Doug with the White saff Nutsrus,i must say i was suprised to see your engine and how well it went with your driving of course, shame abou the oil seal.It was great to see cars ive seen in magazines in the flesh and on track, looking forward to the next one already.Sw-cc have plans for later this year ill give you all a shout when we have dates.

Actually Tony,

On the session when you had to use the escape road (to bypass part of the twisty complex) with all four wheels locked up ....as you continued towards the back part of the circuit, the start/finish marshall had got the BLACK FLAG ready for you, it was rolled up in his hand and he was going to display it, but on that lap you then came into the pit entrance, I saw him look at his assistant on the gantry and smile

I have been doing it long enough to know all the tricks Doug

Its sometimes not the car that needs cooling down but the drivers too

Going for 5th when hitting the marker board didn't work - but I had to try it Most were using these as a braking point - I went for another gear

well what can u say

was a top day , nice to meet the usuall nutters and they showed how NUTS they are on track.

i think everyone that help make this day as good as it was needs to give them selves a pat on the bak

he track action was top, even though i could only watch from the gate as i was there from 7am to gone 1pm

but once the afternoon came, i was on track, and not sure if i was excited or scared

the perfomed well, except water temps rose to around 98degrees and once hitting 101

it did spring a leak, but was soon sorted and gave it one more session, to which me and rhys has some lovely sideways acttion through the bus stop

again thanks to everyone that help and turned up for a top show and the WEATHER was jsut amazing

what i ment was there wasn't as many cars as i expected there. when i said i wasn't impressed with the car show side of it, that was down to the amount of cars rather than the organisation.

there was only one old skool escort there, and it was a stinker.

i just thought it was a shame that there was sections marked off for regional groups that didn't bother to show up.

i didn't show my car, its off the road atm. i badly wanted to take it on track, for Ł25 its rude not to.

if you got the track for next year (and its cheap) i will be back.
