I've got a water leak from somewhere not had a proper look underneither yet. but dad mentioned it could be the head gasket. i've taken the oil cap off and had a look for white gunk but nothing. is there any other way of seeing if it is the headgasket

are you over heating? using loads of water, any smoke/steam from exhaust?

have you compression tested it?

also you could have a sniffer test done on it, this is where a bottle is put on ya header tank and a fluid is put into it, then it sucks the fumes from the header tank and if exhaust gas is getting into the water the fluid will change colour.

i had one done ages ago, got ripped a bit as it was the only place on the isle of wight that couls do it that day and it cost me £20, £20 for nothing as it was ok but your prob only pay a tenner for it or so.

might be worth getting done before ripping the head off.

 

Over heating yes but only when i have no water. it does seem to be getting hotter though on short journeys. no smoke or steam haven't done no test on it yet. can any garage do these sniffer test things

yeah thats where i got mine done, best of giving a few a ring and seeing, i know snapon used to sell the the kit for about 320 dunno if they still do or not as a mate told me about it.

does it still run ok? you might have a hole in the rad or top hose, just small enough for it to jet a little out and no leave anyu sign as the heat evaporates it

happened to me a few times and it turned out to be a small hole just next to/just under edge of jubile clip on top rad hose

 

HG is a bit of a drastic assumption!

have you got it hot then popped the bonnet looked for steam etc?
