When i've been driving my XR2i 8v it appears to idle at about 2000rpm.
Doesn't matter whether it's warm or cold or whether i thrash it or take it easy, it still does it. Sometimes sorts itself if i cut the engine off and start it again, or slam my foot on the brakes but it still does it again after a while.
Any ideas as it's really doing my head in!!!

once off you will see 2 holes, blast in both till its clean, what happens is oil vapour cloggs it up so letting a bit of it soak in for a few mins might be a good idea, depends how bad it is.

Nice one, thanx for that. I did clean the bit on the back of the air box. Made a difference for a while
I shall try that bit tomorrow after work.
Much appreciated

On mine, theres an electrical part. Either an idle sensor or a MAF sensor - not sure - but when u unplug it the engine cuts off and it has a pipe that goes from itself on the back of the airbox up to the side of the throttle body which u have ringed in blue

yeah it is mate, its the remote one, however....
i have a remote one at my parents place but its not like that, its the ISCV off a later spec but its fixed to a plate that makes it remote, dunno if it will be any good for you i would have to dig it out and have a look, thats if i can find it as ive had it years
ill have a look in my big box of bits as i might have a remote iscv like yours, if not i have a late spec inlet manifold

I'll take a pic of the ISCV on my air box (i assume that's it) removed from it then u can compare. How much u want for the inlet manifold if the other bit's no good?

i dont think there all that tbh mate thats why they changed them.
as for inlet manifold, you really only need the top part but as i have no use for just a bottom half ill give ya price for bare inlet complete, if ya dont want bottom bit same price but postage might be a bit less.
£15 for bare inlet manifold, plus postage

Well, i've just cleaned it again with carb cleaner. Might change the air filter as well see if that helps.
If no improvement, i'll PM u about the inlet manifold

You have the Webber type ISCV and it's prone to causing the problems you describe. See if you can find a later car in a breakers and pinch the bits off it to convert yours to the spec of teh Hitachi equipped cars. Don't forget to drill the 2mm hole in the lower part of the throttle butterfly.
