You have the Webber type ISCV and it's prone to causing the problems you describe. See if you can find a later car in a breakers and pinch the bits off it to convert yours to the spec of the Hitachi equipped cars. Don't forget to drill the 2mm hole in the lower part of the throttle butterfly.
if he buys the inlet i got it comes with trottle too
