Default New turbo but.....

I got a new turbo fitted at the weekend but its making the same siren noise as the old one . so is there anything else on the car it could be, i.e a bearing somewhere else although it only makes the noise when it coming on & on boost. its not possible that its a worn bearing in the turbo so would it make the noise if it hasnt been balanced properly?.

im very confused.

please can any one shed some light on this. i've checked the shaft and there was some play when it was hot (i think) yet when it was cold i couldnt feel any play. am i mental or is something odd

thats a real strange one.......

only thing i can think of is if the turbo has been built up and the small paper style gasket has not been fitted behind the copressor housing, (where its bolted and splits apart)this can cause the impellor blades to scrape on the inside of the housing....

but then again it would have been balenced when built i hope... so it would have been heard....

fooked if i know....... good luck tho

crank the car over till you get oil comin thru the oil feed, then join the feed back on and crank another couple of times b4 starting
it can take a couple of mins b4 the oil circulates,if you crank i up without doin this then the turbo is gettin no oil for that time

if they place hasn't primed the turbo proper then it could have already caused damage even though theres now oil in there, like running your engine without oil then sticking oil in,the damage is done, just trying to save you the hassle of sending the turbo back coz these guys know what oil starvation is like and will make your warranty void
if theyve just put the oil feed on and started it then it would take a bit of time for the oil to get round
phone the place that fitted it and ask them how the primed the turbo?

Didn't they test it before giving you the car back?

I bet it's not the turbo, but an airleak.

grey RS had this happen at the ring, and it was air coming out of the coldstart injector - ie it wasn't sealing properly.

spoken to the guy whos going to listen at the weekend, he said its more than likely going to be an air leak. if it is it means i may not have needed a new turbo

at least i can got stage 1 now though

Shouldn't be damaging - she'll just be down on power.
The cold start injector is where the blue plug connects to at the bottom centre of the inlet manifold. You can do it yourself. See if it's sealing properly.

Other things to look at are the inlet manifold/fuel rail/throtte body gaskets.
