i need to remove my fuse box in my s2 to weld in a repair panel on the bulkhead underneath. i lifted fuse board out and can see the three screws that hold it in but in order to remove fuse board it looks like there's about 3 million wires to disconnect! has anyone welded one of these panels in and is there an easy way of seperating fuse board from car. looks a bit daunting to say the least any help would be really appreciated, cheers guys

 

sorry to say it mate,but its gonna be a loom out job. there is no easy way,but this would be the quickest. whip the dash out,then its straight forward job........... if you get stuck in,you would have the loom out (including the dash) in under an hour.

I duno about that im not saying a pro but ive had a LOT of dashes out of MK4's and i cant say ive ever had a loom out in an hour. 2 hours at least!!! (without damaging anything) Fairplay if you can than

i think i'm gonna split the repair panel in two halves through the hole and carefully weld it together with the loom in situ. not ideal i know but fook taking dash and loom out - cheers anyway

 

I think you will find taking the dash and loom out easier to be honest, its not at all difficult, just time consuming being careful.

You will be pissed if you melt the loom cos then you have to remove it anyway!!

Be good to get the dash out aswell because you can only see the TRUE extent of rot on the bulkhead from underneath........

Sorry mate but i had the same problem, loom out i'm afraid

 

if you've got the right tools it can be done in an hour. If your not sure,then take your time mate.you will find that the bolts/screws you take out are all slightly different and therefore easy to remember where they go. THERES NO WAY I WOULD WELD IT IN TWO PLACES
if you melt it you will have major probs.ie if you get another loom,then most have been butchered with alarms and sound systems etc etc. WORST OF ALL they could have a wiring fault and youve then got extra probs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally you would probably find it QUICKER to whip the loom out than BODGE IT UP.

DO IT RIGHT FIRST TIME ROUND AND THE PROBLEM WONT COME BACK
