Could be a few hundred quid..or it could be a scrap engine.......

You wont know till the engine is apart

Either way its gonna cost me Bugger. Sounds a nice motor, but have to obviously have to be careful in a situation like this. The cars only driven 35k mile, stored 9-10 yr's, but hasnt got the original engine as was high spec and previous owner took it out. As to why im wary?

I'd be pretty wary. Could have a cracked head/block, you just don't know.

But just a gasket and bolts will set you back about £50!

Gary, make sure it has a 200 block, 2wd block and 4x4 head don't usually mix=high comp=blown gasket

£60 head gasket, bolts £30,skim if required £60 time to strip and rebuild
oil and filter,coolant etc

ONLY IF THE HEAD IS OK TO BE REUSED AND NOT UNDER SIZE

BE WARNED MATE, DON'T WANT YOU STICHED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it was a cheap fix the guy would fix it before selling it.

I'd steer clear mate, just too many odd things about this motor from the sound of it.

I think I recall a recent post on here about a sierra for sale with a blown head gasket, might be same person ?

You could do a deal where you got the head off and verified the bill before payment... if he is for real he should be ok with that...
