Default Radiators

You often hear people talking about which is the best intercooler / how important a good intercooler is etc..., but you never really here pople talking about thier radiators.

How important do you consider the radiator in your cooling system? and how do you rate the alternatives offered by the likes of grs / pace ?

Thanks!

well, my car has the ability to boil its 7 liters in around 4 mins

i dare u to find a kettle that good,

so im thinking there quite imprtant at the mo,
ive got alot of ingnition retard, and been told this is why the car runs so hot?

any thoughts

any way, the pace seems to hold good rep,
but im thinking of stinking a 3i one on now or taking the water feed of the turbo in an effort to get more cooling

any one using a good thermostat they can recomend aswell

sorry to kinda hijack the thead, but at least its relavent lol

you dont really want to be doing that because the turbo is designed to be water cooled!!

With all due respect have you had it set up? If you can boil it that quick thats quite

I wouldn't ever recomment taking a thermostat out. I bought a halfords one for mine just because it was there at the time, admittedly i run standard boost at the moment but with the fan on or driving along at only 10mph the needle sits well towards to cool end. No doubt if/when the power goes up it wont be up to the job.

I also wouldn't recommend disconnecting the turbos coolant supply although ive seen enough people do it with no problems.

i use standard rad (brand new) and a GRS with a huge fan at the front...

also use standard thermostat and fan switch...

car used to have over heating problems and it cudnt b solved, an ally rad was tried and everything.... (b4 i bought car)

wen i changed bottom end i changed all gaskets including water pump...

found pump was same as 2i 1 but not same as the fezzy turbo 1 i was puttin in (2i 1's blades had like a plate over front of it) 1 in new engine had open fan blades...

never have problems with over heating since!

On this subject, can someone tell me how the hell a S1 rad and fan goes in, do they have the front panel trimmed from the factory to clear the fan?

i have an alloy rad ONE kenlowe fan AND its blocked by a grs ic, the water feed is NOT fitted on mine and it NEVER goes over half way................

hth

boosting @ 18 psi

the rad made a difference

when i asked about the water feed on the turbo on here i got told by 90% that its not worth hooking up unless im running silly power, and im not , currently at around 190 bhp id say .......also im using the bonnet blocks

just out of curiousty should i be worried....

My temp never even enters the normal mark, it warms and reaches the grey just above the beginning of the norm, even flat out it only barely reaches the line where the normal starts.

Sometimes in traffic the temp will drop down down off the scale.

Good or bad? someone moved a needle when they changed the clocks maybe??

Oh ok, could be the needle is wrong, or the sender is fucked, or the thermostat is fucked.
