...to build yourself.

having an argument with a bloke at work who says you can buy lotus elises as kits and the same with nobles and that you can build them up yourself.

i'll argue til the death even if im totally wrong lol, but what is the right answer please?

You can but any car as a kit and build it yourself via the parts counter!!!

It will however cost you far more than just buying a ready built car.

Lotus and Noble are manufacturers of cars, not kit cars...

However, you USED to be able to buy both Lotus (up to the early 70's) and Nobles as kit cars (the Ultima is a Noble design which he sold the rights to), but not any of the current generation items (and these never have been available has kits).

I know that Lotus's used to come in a kind of reverse kit form!
You bought a completed car and over a period of time it would gradually fall to pieces

Would love to see him have a go at DIY assembling the chassis on an elise, its a pretty specialised bit of kit!

It's just a bit of alloy sheet and a Pritt-stick .

The Lotus factory tour was actuallt really interesting! I went when my mate was ordering his new Elise (when the S2 first came out).

Go and see the production line and tell me you can build one in kit form - what a chimp!
