Default oops my bonnet flew open

fitted my nice new radtec intercooler the otehr day and ignored a kid who told me to bash the cooler in a bit where trhe bonnet catch sits, anyway drive up the road, and bang, up the bonnet goes

anyone else found that the cooler fouls the catch and had to bash cooler in?

i bent the puller on mine, was a bitch to reach when i wanted to open the bonnet but it never flew up, just so that if the 1st catch goes the hook still works, it usually wont with a cooler in the way

What was the damage then

I have an extra security measure in place to help prevent damage being done if this happens (don't want to fit pins) ŠTonyTurbo

New bonnet catch with new cable, properly set-up won't give you any problems. The catch has adjustment on it, which if incorrectly adjusted won't allow the barb of the catch to full engage. It needs to pass the 'lever' on the slam-panel and pop into place. Also, make sure that the corner rubber supports are correctly adjusted. They should support the bonnet, but not prevent it from closing properly.

this is exactly why I fitted bonnet pins, just in case this ever happens!

not seeing above 40deg on my charge cooler at the mo, could all change in the hotter weather though
