hi there people im new to the cossie form just wondering if anyone one is running 650+bhp if so have you had any major problems running that sort of power and if i was going to get that sort of power am i better of rebuilding the engine before putting the up grades on.

I think its more than a quick engine rebuild to get this spec, and all the extras for the car needed adds up as well, if you are serious about it and have a lot of spare cash get in touch with a tuner who can advise you,

budget for £20k all in i reckon, plus a 650bhp engine will not last 100k miles either, be lucky to see 20k trouble free.

if you could get 800bhp for 18k there would be a lot more big power cars out there.dont know where you read that but the parts alone would cost more than that.

800bhp for 18k bollocks.

200 block-£700
The block would have to be linered-£1500
The crank would have to be billet steel £1300+
The con rods H section-£700+
Forged pistons £700+
Stupid head, cams etc-£2000+
Tubular manifold £1200
1000cc injectors-£350
Inlet manifold- £300-£3000
Turbo-£2000
Management+mapping-£2000+
Machining etc.

You get the idea this is what they charge the public and theres a lot lot more than that they are just the main things.

If Burton do 800bhp engines for 18k I will have one tommorow.

As for 650bhp then you could get away with standard shot peened rods, standard crank, forged pistons, ported head, 509 cams/bd16's, 2wd manifold, a holset hx50 turbo, 1000cc injectors, Mike Rainbird inlet swedish, etc wouldn't cost that much.

I would personally go to NMS or Reyland.

I would speak to everyone that the other guys have mentioned, the more advice the better...

If your going to undertake a series project like 600bhp+ then its best to speak to the best in the business.
However if you want something a bit less delicate then a less powerfull cosworth would still leave you with a big grin on your face.
