Default overboost??

my stage 3 closed loop saff has a bit of a problem........ it seems to hit overboost in fifth gear but, as far as im aware overboost cuts the boost off by closing the amal valve? my car seems to completly shut down untill you let the revs drop right off to idle speed the and only then can you rev it again.

I wonder if the closed loop part of the system can shut the management down if it detects the car is running weak or somin? its holding 1.5 bar, which is right, and i dont understand why it only does it in fifth gear...its only ever done it in forth once.

Any ideas???? i fed up with it now!

Engine load is bigger in highest gear than the 4th gear. Maybe the chip cuts ignition when engine overboosts? Or your ignitioncoil just cant reduce good enough spark in bigger load? What is the gap in your sparkplugs and what coil do you have? My 4wd had the same problem. I put 0.6mm gap on plugs and changed coil to CraneCams ps40! The problem was gone.

Then i think your chip has overboost cut! Amalvalve does not cut it. Try to lower the boost a littlebit first. And then go for road testing! If i were you, i would rip the amal away and put bleedvalve instead!

I wouldnt, its there for a good reason, providing the chip is mapped to use it

Well... it is only my opinion! But it`s easier to abjust the boostpressure with bleeder. In Finland almost everybody who has chipped their cossies have taken the amal away! And cars work just fine. And there is another valve system here, but my english isn`t that good that i can explain it. But again that was only my opinion!
