Default wheel bearing advice

ok my car failed an mot on some wheel bearings amongst other stuff.

i had actually changed the front ones. but when doing the drivers side it went a bit wrong so could under stand that it failed on that. was confused about the passengers side. i didnt change the back ones.

after the mot i changed all the bearings.
took it back for the re test and the guy was being an idiot and failed it on other stuff that he didnt tell me about when i was there.

so took it somewhere else today. and it failed on 2 things.
offside rack gaiter fouling fuel lines. and guess what else
nearside front wheel bearing has excessive play.

i dont get it. thats now 2 brand new wheel bearings that has failed on. could it be the ball joint? or maybe even the actual hub has had it?

ive got the re test tomorrow and dont just wanna change the wheel bearing again for the 3rd time as i think it will be a waste of money and also i cant see why it would pass this time when it hasnt before.

any ideas?

yeah the carrier can become worn that the bearing sits in but also possibly the centre spindal which slots in the centre of the bearing. They are a pain to get out without hydraulics and sometimes get damaged during fitting/removal. Best off to a scrappy and replace the hub.

i have a spare nova in the garden. so i think a new bearing in the other hub and nopefully that will sort it.

the first time i changed it i done it on the press at work and went on perfectly.
the second time i changed it i done it at home. still went on sweet enough.

well i have my work cut out. strip off 2 hubs, change the bearing on one of them. then change the steering rack gaiter.

might end up having 2mora after noon off work to sort it as i need to to be ready for central day.
