my girlfriends 1.1 fiestas head gasket has gone was parked for about a month to take it for a drive and the fan came on early so i pulled over to check it and i had done the head gasket and id lost all the water, although this had water before and was running fine cant figure out where all the water went? cant see any signs of a leak

 

did you have a cloud of steam outa the exhaust, there is a chance the head or block is cracked or warped, could even be dumping into the oil, if you changed the head gasket i guess u no what ure doing but just incase and if anyone else needs to no the things to check....

1. oil in water in the header tank, will be on the surface so easy to see
2. water in the oil, will be a mayonaze looking substance on the oil filler caps under side.
3. water in oil again, realy high level of oil in the engine on dipstick, probly be a grey color
4. water dumping into piston, big clouds of steam
5.oil into piston, black smoke from exhaust.

if any of these syptoms fit the bill let me no which and we can go into what the possible causes are.

if none of these there is allways that u didnt put in enough water!!! did you run the car in the drive and top up after a few mins??? normaly takes a while to get all the air out!

 

I thought my gf also did this she had cream in her oil etc lol and her gasket was hanging out

 

just been looking at it theres no mayonaise in the sump, under the rocker cover, but little in breather, i thought this could have been from the old knackered engine. i noticed slight water leak so i sorted this out, drained the oil (looked normal, took filter off looked normal, so took off rocker cover and all looks norm so cleaned out all breathers and fitted new rocker gasket and oil and seems fine now

id already brought it at maccess all the stuff so two 5L bottles of oil, 2 oil filters, head set, head bolts and anti freeze for £30
