Default 2.0 on throttle boddies

What is needed to put a 2.0 zetec on throttle boddies and what kinda power gains would it give. Thin kinking off selling my 96 celica and buying a mk 6 scort 3dr and having it fitted with a 2.0 on throttle boddies, or would it be cheaper to go the zetec turbo way???

throttle bodies will be cheaper - you can use ones off of a bike if you don't want to pay out ŁŁŁŁ you'll still need some engine management though.

Northampton Motorsport have a couple of Focus's running around on Weber Alpha Management and one has throttle bodies, the other has the new Titan Motorsport Roller Barrells. They are also an Omex dealer.

Give them a shout on 01604 766624 and speak to Troy.

Alternatively

Dave Colledge at Retro Ford does a nice kit which includes Jenvey Throttle Bodies and Emerald management and I think Daves kit is about Ł1400 give or take a few quid

He has an advert in Classic Ford, it will say in there.

His number is 01536 747978

The nice thing about Northampton Motorsport is they have a rolling road there so they could map it all up for you and everything.

To give you an idea, a 2.0 Zetec in standard trim is about 130bhp

They normally go straight to 160-165bhp on bodies and decent management.

Hope that helps

Here are a couple of guides of what some people are doing on FEOC-uk.com with bike T/B's

To be honest with you if you have any fabrication skills, use bike TBs, a megasquirt ECU and don't mind having a dig round a scrap yard for the right bits you could do a TB conversion on a zetec for Ł400 or less.

Bare in mind though what you save in money you will have to put back in with your own time.

I would want at least 175bhp out of a zetec on TBs with a decent exhaust manifold.

Well im in the middle of doing this right now (just need a car lol)

I have a set of gsxr 750 tb's on a custom inlet manifold fuel pressure regulator with a gague built into it and adj pullys megasquirt ecu and the engine just need to sort the exhaust side of things out but i know how much its going to cost for the manifold i want and system.

So far i have spent Ł735

With another Ł200 to go a bit of wiring to do that i think i can manage my self lol and as i said looking for a car now and then ill put it all in and get it running already have a base map that i know works with the tb's so ill have it mapped properly when its all in the car.

So the expectaiton is that ill spend less than Ł1400 for the whole lot (no that dont include the final set up) but i supose i can do all the spanner work and wiring etc myself so if you have to pay someone to do it obviously there is going to be more cost my idea was to do it all on a limited budget and i think im there really.

As for what tb's to use the general idea seams to be that for a 2.0 you want to have a 42mm bodie the gsxr 750 ones taper from 50mm to 42mm manifold side so there ideal the guy i got mine from has made a great job of spacing the bodies and making the inlet manifold.

So it really depends on how much money you have to spend you can do it on a budget or you can spend loads its up to you.

my friends cortina is on a 2 litre zetec, home made plenum, jenvey bodies, ford injectors and DTA ecu, car made about 170bhp (bg std engine at that point).
he's since gone for decent cams and remapped it himself, car is now around 190bhp and pulls like a train!
engine was Ł400 from a low mileage trashed mondeo, plus some arp rod bolts!

my dads got a 2ltr zetec in his dax rush on throttle bodies.

he's got dunnell stuff on his.
not sure on the prices but the people there are pretty good.
out of the box the kit gives 175bhp.
only internal mod is uprated rod bolts.

he had that for a while and then spent a bit more money and got the dunnell cams also.
this along with raising the rev limiter to 7200 gives his 215bhp.
and 20 quid in petrol still gets him about 170 miles.

that is their website

You can get jenvey tb's with omex management and everything else you need to plug and play on a 2.0 litre zetec. It's probably the most expensive method but it's what i'd do (and was planning to do with my xr2) as there's no messing about
