Stick it in the auction! Seriously! lol
We went to Blackbushe auction couple of weeks ago, couldn’t believe it when saw Escort Cossie up for auction:

Was far from the standard I would expect, certainly not mint – tatty Ash Black, 64k miles, small turbo, seemed to have no compression, could clearly see had paint (badly) as was a ‘join’/overspray on front door pillar, paint on bonnet was fecked, vent hanging out, rear arch had been knocked, rust under sideskirts under doors, chip out of the whaletail covered with black electrical tape, flat tyre, back bumper not fixed properly and looked like been hit, god knows what else

I thought if it went for £5k ish may have been a bargin…

It sold at £10,700! (not including the £300 auction fee that would be added) I know they holding their money again, but that’s ridiculous, theres no way would pay that for it privately let alone in auction

ditto. I'd consider £9k a stone wall bargain for something like that

Well you know thought being an auction and it being tatty no one would really bid I've NEVER seen an Escort cossie in auction

It was a dog, would not have been a cheap cossie, if I'd gone to look at it privately for that money I wouldn't have bothered getting out of the car!
Yeah they could spend money on it, put it up for sale at what they think is worth, but would it actually sell at the asking price? Seen

I was honestly shocked someone paid £11k for it, IMO I wouldn't have

Make it look nice for a few quid, pass it onto a poor unsuspecting buyer at a profit... Can't see what's wrong there...

Weird and wonderful stuff sometimes fetches a premium through the block, as the 'usual suspects' can't really value it...

are you sure it defo sold and wasn't trotted up to 10-7,auctioneers are very good at lulling you into thinking you are bidding on a car with someone else when it could be a fire extinguisher bidding on the wall,i always look to see if anyone else is bidding, and if the car goes through and the auctioneer doesn't say provisional or holding,i ask if it sold and then whats the reserve, bought loads of cars this way

Happens at our local salvage auctions all the time, seagulls, fences etc often place bids on cars

I never said any did sell for £5k! I meant thats what I would expect a bargin to be I wouldn't have bought it for £11k...

I dunno, I wasn't watching the bidding, just listening, they were all crowded around it like vultures, what they never seen an Escort cossie before?! Looked like a finance grab back, the hammer went down so I assume it sold.
Surely by the time you spent £'s fixing it up there wouldn't be that much profit? Still don't change the fact that I wouldn't have paid that much for the fooker!

my old man bought a car from blackbushe
the problem was that he went with my uncle
my dad picked a car he thought he'd have and went to have a bid when it came through
unknown to him, my uncle also thought that was the car he should buy
needless to say, they were the only 2 fookers bidding on it and put the price up by a good few hundred quid before they realised

but if you don't see a bod going up them little stairs to pay for it then you can garantee that it's not gone

I wasn't in a position to see to be honest. We got a very low mileage 2 owner Mk5 130ps XR3i couple of years back from Blackbushe, luckily that was a bargin! lol

another uncle bought a focus from there about 2 years back
every car there was a silver focus and they were going for abou the 5-5.5k mark
this one was blue and it didn't even start so my hand went up for 3k and that was the only bid
result
full history, full options pack (it was a ghia) and the only thing missing was the leather and auto but it even came with a 10 disc changer under the seat (with 2 cd's in it )

i suppose it's a sellers market on some days and a buyers market on others, you just have to keep your eyes peeled over on the "less than £1000" auctions in hall 3 where my cousin picked up a volvo turbo estate 7 something for £300
