Im driving up to Lancs this weekend and am looking for somewhere nice to stop over the night at. The missus is in tow (shut it Lorenzo!) so has to be somewhere nice.

The route we're coming along once we're off the M1.. takes us past Brum on the M6 past Stoke on trent, in between Manchester and Liverpool.. up to just past blackpool and preston.

Can anyone reccomend some nice towns / vilages to look in to ? with nice hotels too?

Chester has been mentioned?

How far up are you going Dave, about an hour past Preston your hitting the Lakes where the worlds your oyster for a cosy B+B shagfest, or if you dont want to be going up that far Garstang or Ribchester just past Preston

If your goint to Poulton le Flid then I assume you will be M6 onto M55 towards Blackpool? If so, just as you get off the M6 onto the M55, if you come off at junction 2 (immediattely after you get onto the M55) there is a Travel Lodge type thing on the left or a Mariott Hotel on the right after you go under the motorway.

Obviously the Travel Lodge effort will be cheaper. The Marriott ranges from about Ł78 to Ł164.

If you want something closer to the city centre, let me know and I'll see if I can find something....
