Default gasless mig welding???

my welder seams to eat through the small argon bottles i get from halfords. and i heard that u can now get gas less welding wire for mig welders that has a flux core.

is this true? and is it any good?

could i just replace the wire in my current welder with flux core wire and use it without gas.
or would i need a new welder?

Yes this is true. Its been around for years.

I prefer using gas though.
If you use that much try buying/hiring a small bottle from your local welding supplies.

You can just use the gasless wire in your mig welder, although you will need to buy some 0.8mm tips, and read your instruction book for the welder as you will need to change the settings.

I'd stick with the gas as I think the welds from gasless wire are pants TBH, but could just be me

Agree with Brian, I hate using gasless migs.

Hire a 'cougar' size bottle from your local gas supply and it will last you a decent time, cheap as well

cheers for that guys.
made my mind up. i'll give the gasless stuff a miss.

i'll look into hiring a bottle of gas.

also, some times the wire seams to snag up and dosnt feed propably. it seams to be when the cables coming from the welder to the gun is a bit curled up. when its nice and straight it seams to feed a lot better.

any ideas on what i could do about that as its hard to do a nice weld when it isnt feeding well.
