Urban Myth KA radio parts being used to chip sky boxes

Now i've heard this a few times today at work anyone else heard this tosh,

seemingly KA's are being deliberatley targeted for break ins as chips in the radios can be used to chip sky boxes

any gen?

I would doubt it somehow. Why go through all the grief to knick them when you could get the chip from your local Maplin for pence.

bull crap the chipped sky boxes get turned off everyday now people aint even bothering with em

lol its one that was brought up at work today by a well known insurance company(i work for the blue oval btw) we had a good laugh at this too

have you ever with your own eyes seen a chipped sky box (satellite) working, or are you confused with a cable tv box?

i've never actually seen a chipped sky digital box - and i'm pretty sure it cant be done either....

If memory serve's me correct when i was installing Sky digital there was a bloke in Irland that figured out how to crack the sky incription code and make his own viewing card now that was the early cards for the digital that had a 72bit incription hence the reason that everyone using sky got a new viewing card now the incription is 128bit and not heard of anyone breaking that one yet lol.

There is a way of fooling the box into thinking the phone line is plugged in to give you box office movies but only till your credit runs out on the viewing card typically this will be £50 after that pulg the phone line back in and as soon as it does it monthly phone home you will be billed for the stuf so there is no point really unless your never gonna use the phone line again oh and you would have to use it all in a month too coz if it dont make contact it kills the credit limit on the card to zero.
