I'm thinking of using the 1.8 cvh sierra rocker cover gasket as its meant to be a rubber item.

Will this be a straight swap or does it need some modification?

I have this on mine - have had a few digs about it sticking out, but it's doing the job and not leaking

 

had one on my s2 and couldnt fault it for about 9 months of use!

got one on mine, never had a leak out of it, just wipe it down everytime I take the rocker cover done so it pays for itself in the end

Go down your local Halfords, they have discontinued them but they might have a few left on teh shelf, I got 2 for £10
