Default 3 Bar SECS error message, help needed

Hello, after bringing the 3door out after its winter hiding I taxed and took it out for a long run yesterday and now have a couple of errors the SECS monitor is picking up.

The first is the Water temp on the monitor fluctuates from 80c to 106c all the time.. New water temp sensor has been ordered..

The second is that on occasion I’m getting the error that the MAP senor is out of range.. I’m getting this when driving normally not even when under boost. Any ideas and should I be concerned..

Cheers

Check map sensor is plugged in correctly, and all the terminals behind the SECS monitor, if this doesn't solve it I can't think of anything else but get a new map sensor

if the battery has been diconnected for a while the monitor may have reset.
it will go back to the settings for a standard map sensor I think which means a 3 bar would show out of range.
worth a try

Have you tried going through the settings and selecting 3 Bar Map Sensor instead of 2 bar?

my SECS monitor does this sometimes when pushed really hard.

Have you wired a direct earth into your 3bar - just in case?

and how do you select 3bar from the SECS monitor?

Press both the buttons at the same time and it comes up with the menu options bit

Somewhere in there you can select the map sensor to be 2, 2.5 or 3 bar IIRC

v easy job although mine was with the engine out so may be a bit more fiddly with it in.

Just unscrew the old one and screw the new one in its near the dipstick tube. I smeared a tiny bit of sealant on the threads too.

I changed the gasket or the plate that it screws into while i did mine.

my engine was in bits when i did mine however i dont think it would need to as its higher up than the rad, headertank. So in theroy some water should some out but not too much.

Just remember to check water level and for air in the system when you start her next (just let it idle with the header tank cap off and top up as required)
