Default Dump valve gives power! (E-Gay strikes again)

I wanted a copy of Fast Ford (top mag this month chaps and nice to see Max's car in readers rides ). I figured I would take Noo to rack some miles up towards the running in.

A Punto GT pulled up as I was going back to the car and the lad (not chavvy at all) asks me if it was a turbo or not. We got chatting and he says he's seen the car about and wondered why I didn't have a DV on it car as they give 30bhp straight off.

I explained to the lad what a DV was and how it worked and he looked a bit miffed as it appears the E-bay advert he got it from told him porkies.

Nice lad and a nice little Punto as well, felt a bit sorry for him really.

Can people get away with mis-selling dump valves of e-bay? Could the lad not just send it back to the seller and claim it doesn't do what the advert said?

Goon

I used to get it all the time tho to be fair.... For some reason one person says DV's add power, then another few say it, then everyone is saying and no-one seems to bother to actually find out if it is true or not It's one of the things I DON'T miss about having my turbo....

I remember one chav down the pub asked me if I had a DV and I said yes, and he said "they add power don't they?" to which I said "yeah, bout 25bhp, and makes it rev to 8.5k" and he nodded along saying how wicked it was, and could he get one for his 1.3 Nova SR? So I said yes, and gave him the number for Bailey Motorsport cry:

See i always beleived you got a slight improvement in performance not 30bhp.
but i do know that a dv prolongs the life off a turbo by relising excess gasses.
