Default weird fault on my xr2i

ive just got hold of a g reg xr2i as my run about car. wen i put my foot on accelerator and press it enuf so it would be pushin fuel thru and speeding up a strange buzzing like noise comes from engine bay area. it seems to be over passenger side more. would this be anything to do with the ecu??

cheers

COULD BE PINKING....IF IT SOUNDS LIKE A KIND OF RATTLING SORT OF SOUND WHEN ACCELARATING.
POSSIBLY NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR FITTED.
HOPE THIS MITE HELP FOR STARTERS.

wont be TPS, ecu shouldnt make any noise, could be the fuel cut off switch buzzing but again this should make any noise.

you would know pinking if it was that, are you sure its not the fuel pump buzzing away like it does?

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, HOW WOULD SOMEONE KNOW IF ITS PINKING IF THEYVE NEVER HEARD A CAR PINKING BEFORE?????
WHEN MY FRST STARTED TO PINK, I TOOK IT TO SCC, WHO REPLACED THE T.P.S AND THE BUZZING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING WENT FOR GOOD.
I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT A BUZZING NOISE ONLY WHEN ACCELARATING WOULD SUGGEST A FAULTY T.P.S, AS A FUEL PUMP WOULDNT ONLY BUZZ WHEN ACCELARATING, IT WOULD EITHER BUZZ, ON START UP OR WOULD BE CONSTANTLY, IF FAULTY.....

er, yeah lose the caps,
and with due respect, i know what im talking about, ive worked on hundrads of cars and have done for fucking years,....plus ive owned my FRST for 8 years so again.....

anyhow, pinking is a metallic sound, as its metal parts making the pinking nosie so it wouldnt buzz....... and it happens when under load.
TPS is what it is , it tells the ecu how far the throttle is open so the ecu knows how much fuel to push in (with help of other sensors etc)

yeah the fuel pump buzz when you turn the key, it primes, builds up pressure, when the cars running it will buzz all the time as its running to pump fuel, so wouldnt be faulty would it, its when it dont buzz you got the problem.

sure its not the fuel lines vibrating ?

if i was at the car and could hear it etc it would be a lot easier, but unfortunaly i cant be

thanks for your replies. its a louder noise than the fuel pump noise, plus fuel pump is at the back of the car am i correct? its defiently only wen u push ya foot down to gain momentum wen trundeling along at about 30 upwards
if it is pinking, how can u stop this plz? i'll give it a try

pinking norm happend if ragging it and it runs lean a bit, leaded cars tend to do it when using unleaded fuel but easy sorted on them, not so much on frst,

if you driving at 50mph say at 3k revs or what ever, do you get the sound?

yeah pump is in the tank mate
