Default 2.0 16v zetec turbo vs 2.1zvh

whats best to go for?

i want big power in my ERST, which do i go for?

i would be buyin 2nd hand as i am not made of money

what would the differences be between the 2?

and what work would need to be done to the car to have it fully up and running

(my car is still on MFI)

the engines i am interested in are, jon S2's old 2.1zvh and dude sweets 2.0 16v

just as i thought

is there anymore work involved in fitting it a 16v?

or is it just drop the engine in and change over the management to EFI?

Pretty much it... Apart from all the work thats needs doing to the engine first... Then there all the wiring

Um clutch and gearbox then brakes... list goes on..

Not cheap to do properly but hey mucho decent power afterwards and one engine not 2 glued together

Mines underway now

Without management both engine choices are pointless.

A 16v engine running on MFi is the worst thing i could think of

IMO dont do it then! Pointless cutting corners to have it bite you up the arse once you have done loads of work and spent loads of money.

Leave it as it is and be happy with it!

Or spend loads of money listen to loads of different peoples advise and have it all fcuk up on you.

1600CVH is the best for value for money!

what do you recommend then jano?!?!??!?

and give me a ball park figure?

i don't see why doing things 2nd hand automatically mean its gonna fuck up n be shit

as long as i do my research so i know what i am buying.

i mean i was looking at dude sweet FRST's zetec turbo motor (check forsale section,

that has been fully rebuilt from a 32k mondeo engine so that should be ok shouldn't it?

as i say at the mo i dont know much about it all thats why i am tryin to find out, i did always intend sticking with the CVH but i want big power now

I hate it when people say if its cheap its shit Yes agreed its true with some things, i have more respect for someone whos built a decent power car on a budget not just thrown 10k at it...as long as its done properly you shouldnt have problems...

I know a guy whos spent 40k on his corrado and its never on the road due to it being broken constantly cos hes a fool and thinks hes knows everything about engines so he does the work himself.. It brakes cos hes doesnt do it properly and even though hes spends Ł000's on components it still fucks up all the time... Hes currently rebuilding his engine again cos he cracked his block this time

think what jano means is that u cant get HUGE power without laying out a fair bit of money in zetec terms...

to get 300 hp out of a zetec ur looking at

2L zetec full engine
rebuilding it with new gaskets etc etc
new water and oil pumps
modifying the hoses so they fit
engine mounts
low compression pistons
steel rods
after market management
big injectors
stage 3 T3 turbo if not T34

thats BIG bucks!

a 220-250hp 1600 cvh

rebuild existing engine
can use same rods
fresh pistons low comp'd (already MAHLE's)
head work
cam
stage 3 T3

can retain MFI or switch to EFI

still mega money but considerably less than Zetec Turbo done properly

personally if u are worried about money...stick with CVH as a GENUINE 220-250hp will be plenty enough
