Default Missfire...

Hello readers...

My stage 3 sapphire cosworth is getting misfire on full throttle through most of the gears....its running about 22psi of boost through a T34.

Think this might be plugs/leads? I wouldn't have thought it's over boosting at 22psi?

Any ideas anyone?

I have no idea....

i've already got the RS specialist near me on the case and they're gonna wack some new plugs in. They think that the plugs are more than likely the cause?

Hopefully you're right...

I've had a few teething troubles. I'm thinking about putting an Alfa Romeo badge on it!

In all fairness it has been sat for a year

Give your car a run on low boost (say 12-15psi) and see if the misfire disappears. If it does then it is a good indication that the plugs or leads are at fault.

I've noticed that if I don't floor it and use the power Conservatively it doesn't do it... but if I put my foot to the floor (so tempting in a cossie huh) it missfires and goes nowhere fast!

Its having new plugs put in tomorrow so hopefully that should sort it

At idle the engine is quite lumpy and rough - not sure if that is related?

Yep it was the plugs...its now purring like a pussy cat

Power is smooth all the way through. Much smoother idle too!

Hi, this thread looks interesting...

Basically, could plugs in a Stage 3 Cossie wear out in say 100-200 miles, if it was REALLY thrashed?

Put new plugs in gapped @ 0,5mm, change your coil for a GpA one and have the fuel filter changed and fuel pressure reset. That`ll most probably solve your problem.

i know this migh sound stupid, but i have the same problem on mine when its running..lol

and its the fuel gauge it says its 1/4 full but really its low on fuel which makes it miss fire on high revs..

but it will prob be the plugs or leads..
