OK guys, my daily driver is a little 1.6 X-Trend Fiesta '04, and am willing to replace the Ford standard CD player unit with a DIN sized MP3 player. Problem is, the CD player is divided into 3 parts in the Fiesta dash, and i'm wondering how the fook you can do so that a DIN player fits... i know that you can find converters, but what to do with the 3 bars that are on the dash, will they need to be cut ? as obviously they are part of the dash and removing the standard player won't make them disappear
unsure if i'm clear, here's a pic (not my car but you get the idea) :

i'm afraid the whole dash needs replacing, but am almost sure it's the only solution

you can buy an adaptor from autoleads for £30ish where you cut the bars out. or get the satnav dash section from ford at around £50-£75 .
i have an autoleads one but i dont like it so i will be getting a ford jobbie

 

You need these 2 parts but you can get away with one.

1222161 insert single din size (needed for ford sat nav) so will house a single din stereo £26

1148611 LHD outer dash secton that houses switch £37.00 (but you can get away with out buying this you just need to cut the bars away in the plastic when the standerd radio is removed


you get these parts from you nearset ford dealer in france

 

You might be able to get a new centre console from ford as the hire car 06 fiesta I had this weekend has the same dash but with a different centre console and a one piece stereo.

 

Not sure if theyre the same in Britain, just had a look at a new Fiesta, and its not divided by bars....ours isnt anyway. I don't know if its Double DIN size or just some other stupidly large size, but its not divided like that. Sorry.

Was just looking at the picture and thinking actually, that doesnt look like ours at all.... for me.
