It should stall

I would check all breather pipes are free of blockage - be careful as they snap easily!!

A standard engine as said should stall, have you got a different breather set up? I've disconnected my breather system from the air box just to eliminate the whole engine as a potential air leak.

A standard car should stall as the fueling system requires a sealed system and you are basically introducing a massive air-leak.

If you have a modified breather system you can run a non-sealed system but the fueling needs adjusting to suit. My car is on MFi and doesn't stall if you remove the oil cap.

A Fiesta is EFi so I would imagine you could remove the oil cap without it stalling.

I did have an RS i bought a long while back before i really knew anything and im sure the rings were gone cos it smoked like a bitch u could follow the trail of smoke and find me it was that bad, and that would run with the cap off. It was RAPID though

If your rings were gone i would think you would be seeing other symptoms like excessive breathing and smoking out of the exhaust.

If it doesn't stall, but is MFI with standard breathing, then it's just simply running rich.
