Anyone done a plate transfer recently at local VRO?
Just wondered if its still the same procedure of taking all the docs down, doing the required forms, payment and then walking away with it all done?
Don't ask - I don't know

They'll take the paperwork, etc but wont do it on the spot any more which is a pain in the arris
Suppose to be within 7 working days and thats only if they dont want to inspect the vehicle. Its takes longer if they do.Oh well ....

That's what I thought mate. When we took the plate off my mums old XR2 they inspected the car - twice !!!!!!! Said there were some irregularities with the logbook.............namely DVLA put the wrong chassis number on it, one digit out from the car !!!!
They never cease to amaze me, like the time I took my RS off SORN after the winter and re-txed her. I had the tax disc on the car and they write to me saying that I'm not the registered keeper so why was I applying for the tax disc ? Told them it was a bit fecking late as I already had the disc and I'd been the registered keeper for 10 years, best you go and check !!
Never heard anything more, strangely enough.....

After speaking to the feck wit I had to deal with earlier (I couldnt help but stare at last nights dinner down the front of his shirt
) I could well believe that.
The worst thing is, I should of taxed the car the plates going on first as I cant drive it now until the transfers done
The DVLA only inspect 1 in 10 vehicles as a matter of course.
If the donor vehicle has ever been a write off then they will almost certainly want to inspect it but if not they probably won't!
The last 2 transfers i have done were done and dusted within 4 working days
