Default DIFFERENCES BETWEEN S1 AND S2 OIL PUMPS

hi all,

i have an oil pump here which i need to know if its an S1 or S2 oil pump, how can i identify which one i have?? anyone know of part numbers i could check?? pics below!

the difference is the drive, each pump needs the relevant crank. The bottom one looks like the later pump, u need to check if it fits ur crank nose.

rick the two pics are of the same pump! i have no crank to try it on, is there no way of identifying it by looking at it, but you think its an s2 one?

u can identify them by looking - but i cant remember what each one looks like. Actually think it's an early one now - ignore me lol

rick just looked in the haynes manual this is a rotor type oil pump fitted to 1986 onwards cvh's which makes this a S2 one the other type is known as gear type pre 86 has a sort of D shape gear

That is a late pump. The S1 had a pump drive with 2 flats on it instead of 4 lugs....
