Default 2wd Sapphire Strong Vibration from the Gearbox

I feel a very strong vibration at the gear handler when engine reaches 4000rpm and get even higher with reving.

This happens also with car stoped in neutral.

don't know where to check. Already did the turbo damper, and changed gearbox oil.

The vibration is so strong that at 5500 is very hard to shift

I've known the 4 internal bolts that hold the bell hsing to the gearbox to be loose and cause this to happen!

ONLY comfirmed once box was removed

thanks. I'm going to take a look at gearbox mount, engine ones are fine. If it's ok I will get it out tomorrow with some help because removing a T5 it's not a 1 person job eheh (can be done but terrible hard when you don't have engine support or car lifter. besides I have the standard exausts so, it must be off also.

Hi,

Before remove gear box, look around crankshaft pulley if it is correctly fitted and if tightening torque is OK (120/130 nm.)(90/100 lb/ft)

Regards

Claude

thanks again. this is getting me realy upset! gearbox mount is ok, take it our yesterday to check. However I have two issues: right engine mount seams a little wasted, and my a/c support has a big gap and balances a little. I realy don't know if any of this affects but I'm going to check these two and crankshaft pulley as Claude recomendation.

Crankshaft pulley is ok, Before going to take the T5 out for bell housing inspection, ordered new engine mounts and see if it's the problem.

This is getting me crazy

2 other things to check b4 u remove the box!

1: make sure exhaust ISN'T touches anywhere on the body.

2: undo the engine mounts and jack up the engine slightly and then let it DOWN so it sits back down on the mounts as MAYBE engine wasn't/isn't centralised in the X member properly!

only a thought

Thanks Alvyn.

exhaust is not touching anywhere in the body, but I have more than 4mm between turbo supporter and damper. (workshop indicated a max of 4mm), but I think it has nothing to do with turbo or exhaust.

Vibration comes from the engine and propagates to the gearbox, at least is what I think. I'm betting on the engine mount on the right side.

Since Ford dealer takes 1 and half week to send the new engine mounts I'm going to lift the engine a little a let it settle down again as you said and see what happens.

btw, this happened after I pass a big hole under strong acceleration.

then I'd say it's time to drop the box again may be clutch or flywheel bolts are loose!

ps you HAVE got the little spacer blocks that go in between the g/box mount and the body???

K&N, but it has nothing to do with that you can also feel it at clutch pedal.

Yep...

I've ordered new engine mounts... let's see what hapens... vibration seams to come from engine and propagates to the gearbox, and not from gearbox itself.

current engine mounts are a little worn... I'm getting crazy with this...
