i spoke to a guy today who is supposedly well clued up in the world of turbo chargers, he basically told me the turbo on my small turbo car was a weak unit? is this true? if so is their anythink i can do to prolong its life, apart from the usual leave it idling jobby?

 

standard ones are weak but are ok for normal boost,if you start running more boost it will soon bite the dust

 

go and ask him.

don't think they are weak as in strength wise but power wise.

not a lot you can do with then,only hybrid it,360 bearing etc...

nothing to worry about.

 

i think i'll defo be keeping mine standard then, i should imagine its not a cheap unit to buy!!

 

I'd like to know what his definition of 'weak' is before condemning it. There are plenty of them out there doing the job perfectly satisfactorily.

 

They don't like anything more than standard boost before they explode into a miwllion pieces... .

 

Now, I wouldn't call this weak, just that it's been engineered to do a specific job and it does that. I just hate it when you get half a story off people (moan)

 

i suppose you could say it doing its specific job and working well but on the other hand you could say it working at the upper end of the scale hence theirs no room for even a slight boost increase"
