im running a 1.6cvh roughly gonna be around the 280-300bhp mark (dyno next month)

on greys with t34 .63 housing

ive had my gearbox completely rebuilt with the following

im running standard rs turbo 1st to 5th gears with a 3.33:1 final drive

evidently the final drive i have is rare as rockin horse shite ???


what top speed will be capable from this gearing do you think??? im aiming for fastest mk2 (well its something to aim for)

wheel/tyre - 15x6.5j - 195/45/15

3.33 is a shorter ratio by the looks of it. So I think you will get a lower top speed at max revs.... but you should get there a bit quicker instead!

but remember the xr2 is not the most aerodynamic car lol or the most stable at 140 +

Personally, I think you'll struggle to get the engine into its sweet spot with gearing that tall.
Top speed is all about power versus aerodynamic drag/frontal area.

Having said that, I've just input some rough data regarding this exercise into my Cartest2000 simulator, and it tells me I'm wrong......

Just for the record, the simulator shows a top speed on the 3.82 F/D as 154mph, whereas it gives 168mph on the 3.3 F/D.
