Personally, I think you'll struggle to get the engine into its sweet spot with gearing that tall.
Top speed is all about power versus aerodynamic drag/frontal area.
Having said that, I've just input some rough data regarding this exercise into my Cartest2000 simulator, and it tells me I'm wrong......
Just for the record, the simulator shows a top speed on the 3.82 F/D as 154mph, whereas it gives 168mph on the 3.3 F/D.
