Default The different stages of a Garrett T34

As per the title chaps.
What can be done to a T34 to make it perform better?.
I know little about the different housings , .48, .55 and .63 but I'm curious as to what else can be done to them to aid me in keeping up with the Japanese cars over here.
I know alot of the tuners websites have different stage turbos for the 2WD Sapphires.
Cut back wheels and 360 degree thrust bearings are some of the words I've seen.

You need to decide on a power level, and then you can spec the turbo to suit, as having cut back blades loses response, but is necessary if pushing the turbo hard (whether it is the limit of any of the exhaust housings, or well within).

So for 350 -380 bhp would a .55 be ok ?

Yes, but it would need cut back blades for the higher figure.

I guess that's just my dilema Mike mate
I wish I lived in the U.K as I'd hop in my Sapphire and drive down the road to my local tuners and be done with it.
So frustrating living over here as unless I want to trade my Cossie in for a Japper then I'm kind of screwed.
With that off my chest
I guess the power level at this stage that I'm after is the most I can safely and reliably get out of a completely standard internals 2WD engine.
With only having done things like....

Bosch 803 Green Fuel Injectors,
Ahmed Bayjoo Chip 3BL6R24.803,
3 Bar Map Sensor,
-31 Wastegate actuator.
Pace RS500 Spec Intercooler,
Bailey breather system,
Full set of Red Samco silcone water and boost hoses,
K&N pod filter,
Bailey DV-30 recirculating Dump Valve,
Bailey Power Steering and Header Tanks,
Group A head gasket,
Mongoose 3" Stainless Steel Exhaust System
Koni Adjustable Sports Suspension front and rear,
Chassis Dynamics uprated springs front and rear,
Ferrodo DS2500 fast road/track brake pads front and rear
Philloy Group A Front Strut Brace.
The car is running 18 psi of boost on the standard un-moddified T03 Garrett turbo

There's a few chaps on here who have done the 4x 403 Grey injectors with the T34 .63 housing and that to me sounds bloody good
Obvioulsy I'd need to find someone who was willing to write me a chip so it can all run smoothly though as all the tuners will be able to do with my car once the new bits are fitted is adjusting the fuel pressure, boost and alter the C0 screw

not sure an 'off the shelf' chip for greys is such a good idea.

before i had greys i was on greens with the T34.63 and it still felt bloody good, just means less boost at top end, i'd expect you could probably hold around 22 psi with a peak of 28 ish for good torque.

a good solid 350 bhp i reckon

No tuner of any merit would offer such an off the shelf item. It needs live mapping at this level.

Hmm alright, thats out the door then
Are there off the shelf chips for 803s, 044 Fuel Pump and a T34 with .63 housing?.
Or am I better to stick with a T34 with a .48 housing.

Or better still am I best to pack up my things, drive my car into a shipping container and leave sunny New Zealand behind and move to the U.K to have it properly setup?

Hmm, not a bad plan and probably the cheapest option.

just a thought.....

have you not thought about going aftermarket engine management? Surely then a good tuner in new zealand would be able to map it for you.
