Default Losing your cool!

Anyone got a 2wd Sapphire with a 4x4 i/c and running an alloy rad?
What make of rad is it and did you have to modify it in any way to make it fit?

Cheers

No-one at all?

Did you have one custom made in that case? Where did you get it done?

Eagle

Was it an alloy one though? I've got a 2wd car with a 4x4 i/c.
This is the rad that came out of the car - I believe it is a 4wd rad although I am happy to stand corrected?

I bought a Radtec one but it will not fit without major surgery to the top of the rad as it has 2 protruding rails and 2 tabs on top of those ( as below ) - it differs from the standard Ford rad

The existing rad butts up right to the bottom of the i/c. I cannot move the i/c up any higher on the car

I've investigated the Pro-Alloy one but it appears it will not fit without modification either.

Does anyone know any alloy rads for a 2wd Sapphire with a 4x4 i/c that will fit out the box?

I'm quite surprised as I thought a lot of people on here would have a 2wd car with the later i/c and had gone over to an aftermarket alloy radiator?
I had to fit my existing one back in, in the end - took 5 minutes after trying every possible combination of bolt holes, spacers etc with the Radtec one

You'll have to buy an RS500 intercooler - that'll cure it .

I'd literally say you're not wrong Mike - just find it amazing that none of the manufacturers seem to make an alloy rad that will fit a 2wd car with a Ford 4x4 i/c without having to hack the rad about some way?
I don't see what the extra rails are for on the top of the Radtec rad?
Neuther the Pro-Alloy one or the Radtec one are exact copies of the Ford one - the depth of the core isn't the problem - it's the extra height at the top.

Sorry can't help m8
Most cossie owners who are willing to spend Ł250+ on an alloy rad will buy a RS500 style intercooler

yours is a fairly rare combo... most people with modded cars will have RS500 intercoolers fitted by now....
I am fairly sure ours will fit simply by bolting on 2 x flat brackets to the upper fan mount points...
not to tricky really
