Default Oil Level

At what level on the dipstick do people run their cars at. Ive always had it on the full mark or just under.

A few have told me to keep it between half way between the lines and 3/4?????

Thanks, Rich.

Check oil level once oil has been left to settle after running, best bet is to check it after you have filled up with fuel and been in to pay..

Oil level should be kept halfway between minimum and maximum

Seems to be a few different views on this then. Ive heard a few saying when on MAX, they get oil in the airbox pipe.

Not sure what to do now really???

I did have a bit of oil in the air box
But sence 330 cossie fitted the new bailey breather kit nothing at all now and ive took it for good runs to try it out
The original breather that was fitted to car was all sh*tted up
I knew it needed one when i went to buy its best thing fitted so far

Oil level should be kept halfway between minimum and maximum
And what if you leave home after the car has been standing for some time then?

Unless the oil pixies come along and remove your sump plug you wont have a problem...

If you check the oil level at home before moving off and its too low, that would also suggest it was too low when you parked the car up ROFL

Right THIS is all you need to know...

From the Escort Cosworth Owners Handbook....

Check the engine oil level each ime you refuel. After switching off the enginewait for a few minutes to allow the oil to flow back to the sump..... Blah Blah...The oil level is correct if the film on the dipstick is between the two markings... blah blah.....The quantity of oil represented by the space between MIN and MAX markings is approx 0.5 to 1.0 litre

The end
