Default quick question, answer needed asap

i should be able to fire up my 2.0l zetec mk4 tomorrow but before i did i thought about doing a compression check as im worried about too high compression.
its a n/a 2.0l that is 0.5mm oversized.
i am running a ported 1.8 head.
apparently this will raise the compression ratio but i also have a metal tripple plate head gasket of which i have noticed is thinner than the standard item.
so my question is;
what psi is safe for my engine?
basically what will happen if i got too much compression??
cheers peeps
