Default FRS - low torque figure

Had my RS rolling roaded on Saturday, was well chuffed with the power but my torque came out at 226lbs/ft peak This seemed a bit low so I've had a look about and found the torquesteer focus 270 which has a very similar spec...

The Torquesteer Focus RS 270.

The story so far:

Build No. 0540
First Registered Jan 2003

Spec:

Power: 270.3bhp@5210rpm
Torque: 280.4Lbft@4385rpm

Engine:
GGR Bluefin
GGR Sports Cat
Mongoose S/S Exhaust
GGR S/S Tubular Exhaust
K&N GenII Induction Kit
Ford Motorsport HT Leads
So slightly less bhp than mine but 54lbs more torque with virtually the same car? I haven't a clue why this is...any ideas anyone?

Thanks, Bish

I haven't got a boost controller, just the bluefin map setting the levels, was thinking about a little trip to Blackpool to see Stu later in the year for a proper map

I had 237 lb/ft with only a K&N panel filter
Then 260 lb/ft with a GGR induction kit and Decat pipe

What torque figures did everyone else get?
About what they expected or were they low.
I stand to be corrected but I was under the impression that the torque figure is calculated rather than measured.
Could just be the figures for everyone was low.
Also having had one and getting rid of it i would point the finger at the GGR filter.
Get a K&N on there!

flyingfocrs Everyone I've spoken to says the K&N is good...cheers!

Kev.H & chip-3door No idea where the torquesteer car was tested and if it had been a nominal amount I'd have just put it down to the variation in rolling roads but to get virtually the same bhp and have a massive difference in the torque I'm worried there might be something wrong

Here are the results for 4 cars that were done a year apart on the same rollers.
The last 3 cars were completely standard and unmodified both times.
But look how different the torque figures are.
To be honest I wasn't recording mileages and can't even remember what mine was the last time.
But of the 4 cars that ran both times 3 are still standard (guess whose isn't).
So here are their old and new figures. old/new
owner @ the wheels @ the flywheel torque
Me 180 / 197 227 / 247.5 237 / 260
Colin 184 / 187 228 / 236.5 230 / 252
Alan 175 / 185 218.5 / 232 225 / 251
Dave 183 / 187.5 234/231 228 / 253

Is 62bhp not a bit much for a fwd car to lose due to transmission loss? Ie.. 208bhp@wheels and 270bhp corrected power?

horsepower is calculated from the torque and rpm readings AFAIK

tonyk does look quite a lot to lose but I guess thats just down to the rollers....mine blipped up 230bhp at the wheels at PE which seems a bit easier to swallow!

Will definitely be getting myself a Gen 2 kit next month and see how she feels

I'd also worry a little bit about the tapping coming from it m8, maybe do an oil change on it

Give it to the hands of a tuner and see what happens after that

James just out of interest do you know when the oil was last changed and what oil was used? From what i understand they are a little fussy about what grade oil to use.

Has it always had that tapping moise from the engine on tick over? TBH i could only just hear it when the bonnet was up so i dont think its serious.
