Sounds daft but whats exactly wrong with it? Can only think the threads may be knackered. Be easier to pop down the scrappers to find another surely or ebay??

If your restoring it to match the quality of the rest of the car (?) you might get decent results with a rattle can and a bit of prep. Otherwise as mentioned find one that has never been used in the scrappers. Please do not use it when working on the car, grab your self a sturdy trolley jack + axle stands.

you need to find someone with a sandblaster, that will take the paint off, probably cheaper to buy a new jack

i dont know but, are the jacks the same on much newer cars like a 2007> ford's, if not when did they change, then go for a used one from the last year that they fitted the old type that you have, bound to be better than yours, as most newish cars are maintained by garages, so the jack never comes out

use "findapart" "breakerlink" or "spares247" free to use search engines

Axle stand are lethal imo, I use a railway sleeper(£12), cut into squares, they used to hold 150+ tons so well up to the job and the flat base makes them mega stable.

Hi Rob

I could blast it no worries as thats easy, the problem is I couldnt powder coat it as you wanted as the white bushing that the winder thread is sealed into is not removable and is held in with 2 pins (Black Ones)

You could try drilling them out but they were sealed in for safety reasons pal.

I have a jack here that i bought to check if the white bush was removable and it wasnt so its just sat in the box.

£20 delivered if you want it.

I have one here from our 1998 Escort - bought the car new in 1998 and sold it in 2009 under scrappage - hardly used in that time. Not perfect, but very few marks in the paint for the age, and the footplate is a bit different and it has an Escort sticker on it.

Part No is 93AB-17080-BB D3L5A

If I get a few quid for it I'll be happy, but postage will be £10 first class recorded, or £8 for Standard Parcels.
