Default Fiesta Mk5 brake/ABS problem

a few strange things happened with my brakes over the last 2 weeks, first the abs light came on every now and then and it still does this. the the brakes would make kind of a clicking noise and you could feel them going on and off (or what i thought was the abs going on and off). i had a search around and it sounded like the abs ring had gone.

a few days later a weird clicking/tapping noise came from the back passengers wheel sounds like there was something stuck to it had a check and couldnt see anything. this noise lasted 2 days then went away.

now today the handbrake light stays on and the brakes hardly work theres no pressure and it feels like u have put ur foot on and off them, like pumping them up.

anyone had this before to this extereme?

Does it sound like this?

If it does, your rear ABS rings are knackered. Happened to me as the ABS sensor had taken off the tops of the sensor when a wheel bearing failed.

yes thats what was happening.......... im guessing now they have completly gone and thats why the hand brake light is constantly on and theres basicly no brakes.

any idea where i can get new abs rings from cant seem to find them on the net or should i just nip to ford.

thanks for that

I got mine from Ford when I needed them. About Ł20 a pair or something IIRC. Check your wheel bearing and sensor as well. The rear sensors are a Y split pair connected in the middle of the rear beam.

If the rings still have a pronounced curve, then they'll be ok I'd have thought. If your ABS sensor is covered in crud from your leaking cylinder, then that'd give you the same symptoms I expect.

I've got some pictures of a new and knackered one.. I'll upload them and post them up..

Did you not need to replace your ABS rings in the end then? Mine look like the ring in the second picture (knackered) and have had the noise since I had the car. Is this surely what the problem is? Both wheel bearings are fine.
