Exclamation Fiesta ST wont start also engine light.

Hello,

So yesterday i drove the car about 20 miles and had a meal then came back 15 miles to pop in tescos, when i come out the engine started for about 2 seconds and stopped it had a message saying "engine high temperature" or something very similar.
It start about 5 minutes after and i drove home slowy with the engine light still on... Once i got home i checked the water and it was fine, also started it few hours later and the light was still on but started fine.

So today i started it this morning and again it was fine but with the light on and then turned it off. I came home today and wanted to move it round the corner as ive been checking the oil on a slight hill but never realised it It never started and just tries but nothing happens.

It is due for a service which i was going to get next week anyway but hope its not ran out of oil as ive been checking it on a hill...

Its a 09 (58 plate) Fiesta ST with just under 42k on the clock.

Cheers.

I would say if the car can tell you its too hot, it will probably give you a low oil warning before its danger time.

If the level looked near max on an incline as long as it wasn't a stupid gradient then it can't be that far off if you were on level ground. Best thing to do would be to get the code read as there obviously has been one thrown up. If visibly the coolant is not boiling, nor are the hoses pressurized or the engine smelling hot then I wouldn't take what it is saying as gospel just yet. I take it the temperature gauge wasn't in the red zone or you never looked at it? I take it these models do have one.

I looked at the gauge and it just sits in the middle (about 90) and i did look at the coolant but thinking about it i cant remember it boiling now...

Ive had someone round today and they get the code and they will find out later they said. I was not here but it started today, he said i need new plugs for a start. He is doing a service this week too so hopefully everything will get done.
