ST vs Zetec S????
Alright lads,
Being looking at getting a new car.
I want a mk6 fiesta but not sure either the ST or the Zetec S.
I do 50 miles a day for work (M3 and M25) about 350 miles a week just for work.
I've just given up autograss racing so want something which is good to drive aswell. My car at the moment is doing 37 mpg.
Is a ST too much of a fuel guzzler??

Around town my fiesta st did about 26 mpg average across a whole tank. Would do 41 mpg if whole tank was on the motorway. If you drive like a dick then late teens.
My old puma engined zetec s would never worse 30mpg across a whole tank not mater how hard you killed it.
Was also quicker than the standard st.
Early fiesta sts are worse on fuel for some reason ( per face lift) and decanting them makes them appalling.
182 are really shit on fuel for town driving.
At 350 miles a week you should be looking a deisel really. Perhaps a seat Ibiza cupra pd. 160bhp and comes with ap racing 4 pots as std.

in fiesta terms both models are like the st170 focus, looks good but drinks way too much fuel for what power you get out of them, my little mk5 zs daily is like a mini on fuel its brilliant
Buy a facelift mk1 focus 1600. Cheap to buy, great to drive, 40 to 45 mpg and reliable motors.
Plus you have the added bonus of not having to worry about any expensive modern diesel related problems
