xr2i 16v wheel fitment/suspension

Default xr2i 16v wheel fitment/suspension

just bought girlfriend 2i 16v went to fit 15"mondeo rims and they rub on shock cups do i just buy spacers&extended studs,also we are going to buy suspension kit for it if i go for say gmax ex low 60mm drop will the shock cups b lower or higher or will i still have to fit spacers

The cup position does not change if you fit lowered suspension. I wouldn't bother with G-Max as from experience they are wank. Either fit NEW standard dampers with decent lowering springs (30mm) or go with Koni top adjustables and decent springs. It will corner well being dropped on its belly but won't leave much travel in the shock. Suspension geometry will suffer as well.

What size tyres are on the rims?
What offset are the rims?

I bolted up a set of 15" 7J (35 offset) Stealths with 195/50 tyres (testing clearance) and still cleared the spring cups. Didn't clear the arch though
