Default Fuel hose for FRST in Kit car

Good people,

I've just installed a FRST engine into my Westfield kit-car. Everything went throught the MOT apart from one thing... a fuel leak.

I'll try and give as much info as I have. Any advice or solutions will be greatly appreciated.

I had to remove the Ford-fitted plastic fuel hose that attaches to the connector on the EFI fuel rail and replace it with some high-pressure fuel hose. I have a V8 high-pressure fuel pump with 8mm (5/16") hose coming from that to the fuel rail connector. I realise that the connector is smaller than 8mm, so this will be one part of my problem.

I have contacted several companies and suggested that standard high-pressure fuel hose is not adequate and that I eaither need to replace the original Ford plastic hose or make up some screw-on (Aeroquip) fittings from the pump to the fuel rail.

My questions are: -

Why was it said I can't (or can I) use standard high-pressure fuel hose (of the correct bore)?

My current fuel hose is rated to 15 Bar.

Is the original Ford plastic fuel hose 'shrink-wrapped' on and can it be done by me or only specialist Ford equipment?

What is the thread size of the removable connector from the fuel rail, so I might be able to get ThinkAuto, for example, to make me up a new, larger bore connector?

And what diameter is the Ford fuel rail conector, so that I will be able to match the correct fuel hose.

Thanks for your time,

Neil

hi, the connecter on the fuel pipe is shrinked on, however to change the connecter you can put the pipe in some boiling water to soften it up, it will still be tight to get on but if you keep it hot it will go.
